Biography
 - Joy Morris joins the Waco Independent School District Curriculum & Instruction Department as the Secondary Reading Coordinator/Secondary ELAR Content Specialist.

She previously served as an elementary principal, assistant principal, district content specialist, campus reading instructional coach, and teacher.

In her tenure as principal, she led her teachers in improving their STAAR performance including double digit gains on 5th grade Science STAAR Assessment, as well as seeing tremendous gains on campus wide scores on Logramos, a Bilingual assessment in preparing Bilingual students for grade level appropriate material. Joy’s campus consistently outscored the district and ensured Kindergarten students were prepared for the next grade level. Joy also led her campus to improving teacher quality and three out of four teachers nominated for Distinguished Teacher were recognized under her leadership.

Joy graduated from the University of Texas, Arlington with a B.A. in Interdisciplinary Studies.  She also holds a master's degree in Bilingual Education from Southern Methodist University, as well as a master’s degree in Educational Leadership and Policy Studies from the University of Texas, Arlington.  Joy is currently completing her doctoral studies at Texas A&M, Commerce.
